As part of the programme, meetings were held with representatives from the Municipality of Cascais, Municipality of Matosinhos and Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) to discuss macroalgae-related practices in Portugal.
The discussions focused on macroalgae collection methods, sustainability of operations, post-collection processes and financial aspects of the practices. Information was also exchanged on ongoing studies related to macroalgae. During the visits, practices implemented by different local authorities and research institutions were examined on-site.
